The Gateway of the Plant: Zaporizhstal Carried Out a Major Overhaul of the Wagon Tippler
Zaporizhstal carried out a major overhaul of the mobile unloading system PRK-5 wagon tippler. This equipment is responsible for unloading of concentrate, sinter ore, coke, and lime from wagons. Nearly 250 wagons, around 70 tonnes each, pass through it daily. According to the plan, the repair was scheduled to take seven days. However, thanks to the effective organization of work and the responsible approach of employees, it was completed 12 hours early. Specialists from the metallurgical equipment shop, MSEERS, and blast furnace personnel – up to 70 workers every day – worked at the site. Key tasks included the replacement of drive pinion shafts and gear rims for the rotor turning mechanism, repairs to the movement mechanisms, restoration of the tipping platform metal structures, inspection with partial replacement of mechanical equipment and cabling, repairs to electric motors, and replacement of the tippler rail tracks. Drilling of the gear rims was carried out by ZCMW specialists.FI
