A new step into the European steel market is now a reality. As part of the 2026 programme, Kamet Steel’s rolling mills commenced production of a range of B500C grade reinforcing bars for Romanian customers, successfully certified at the end of last year by the Romanian certification body ICECON.
Since the start of the year, over 2,300 tonnes of rebars with a nominal diameter of 8–25 mm have already been shipped through the Kamet Steel–Romania route.
The production of B500C grade rebar in accordance with the Romanian standard has a few key features. In addition to specific geometric parameters, weight per metre and a unique gauge pattern, this product is distinguished by an extended range of mechanical properties. In particular, the product meets strict requirements for strength and hardness, which is critically important for reliability in the modern EU construction industry.
As a reminder, Kamet Steel has received a positive technical assessment for its B500C reinforcing steel bars with nominal diameters of 8–32 mm from the Permanent Technical Council for Construction of the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration. From now on, Metinvest is selling Ukrainian steel products in this promising market alongside Bulgarian rebar manufactured at Promet Steel.
Oleksandr OLIINYK, Chief Rolling Mill Engineer – Head of the Rolling Shop:
"We are systematically expanding our sales geography, proving that Kamet Steel’s rolled products are competitive even in the most demanding markets. Today, rebars of various profile sizes for our Romanian partners are already a stable part of the monthly production programme at Mill 400/200. To make this possible, the best specialists – from process engineers to roll pass designers and roll turners – joined forces to develop optimal technical solutions and rolling schedules, and to carry out complex roll-pass design. This is a team effort in close collaboration with our steelmaking colleagues, who focus on strictly adhering to the chemical composition parameters of the billet required to produce ‘Romanian’ rebars, and this allows us to confidently maintain our quality standards.”
