A date is coming that the whole world will remember forever. February 24th. A year ago, on this day, the war came into our lives. February is no longer just a month. It turned into a "fierce year".
Since the first day of the war, Metinvest Group, which also includes the enterprises of Metinvest Pokrovskcoal, has become a reliable support for the country, military and civilians.
The year of the war brought many trials. For each of us, it has become the most difficult one in life. A huge number of people lost their own homes, work, and therefore confidence in the future. But even in difficult times, thanks to the support provided by Metinvest, the Company's employees have opportunity to get a profession, a stable job and start a new life in peaceful Pokrovsk.
“I am very grateful to Metinvest and Pokrovske Colliery Group for their support of our family in difficult times,” says the mining foreman, Maxym Blazhko. "After leaving native Mariupol, where our housing and Azovstal where I worked were completely destroyed, we lost everything. Now, we are building a new life in Pokrovsk".
Since the beginning of the war, Metinvest Pokrovskcoal not only gives jobs to those who need it, but also helps displaced employees and provides them with humanitarian aid packages.
"I worked at Avdiivka Coke Plant," says Oleksandr Knutarev. "Because of the decline in production and escalation of the situation in the town, I decided to look for a new job. It was very difficult. I tried to find a job in different regions of the country, including in the capital, but all in vain. Therefore, I came to Pokrovsk and now I am getting a profession of an electric locomotive driver. It's a stable salary, the first of which I received at the stage of training, as well as provided housing and food, that attract me".
Yevgen Kalashnikov, an electric locomotive driver at the section ShT-10, also understands the value of his workplace. Just like his colleague, he could not find a job for a long time.
"In my hometown, Kryvyi Rih, it is extremely difficult to find a job where salaries would be paid on time and employment would be official," notes Yevgen. "Thus, when I found out that the colliery group was looking for new employees, I applied to the Career Centre. I arrived in Pokrovsk, got a new profession, and I am already working. I am satisfied with my choice, because I feel support both from my colleagues and from the company as a whole".
Recently, IDPs who found employment at Metinvest Pokrovskcoal received another batch of humanitarian aid in the form of long-term storage products. This is another manifestation of care, which is especially important for people who have come to work in a new city.
"A lot of people from other cities, such as Avdiivka, Mariupol, Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia," says Olena Dunycheva, a specialist in interaction with educational institutions of the personnel training and development department of Metinvest Pokrovskcoal, "come to us and find jobs. We support and help them. Young men and women study, work and stay to live in our town".
