Zaporizhstal mastered three new types of steel products in 2025

In 2025, Metinvest Group's Zaporizhstal launched production of three new types of flat products ‒ two in the hot-rolled segment and one in the cold-rolled segment.

The new products are used in the construction and machine-building industries, and as semi-finished products for the further production of steel structures. Throughout 2025, Zaporizhstal shipped around 58,000 tonnes of new products to its customers.

"Amid air raid alerts and hostile attacks, a logistics crisis and unstable energy supply, the Zaporizhstal workers not only maintain production, but also strengthen the positions of a Ukrainian producer in external markets. During the full-scale invasion, the enterprise mastered production of 31 new types of products. We also have an ambitious goal for 2026 to expand the product range by additional 11 items. We are already working to achieve this goal," said Taras SHEVCHENKO, Acting General Director of Zaporizhstal, Hero of Ukraine.

In 2025, Zaporizhstal mastered production of coils and plates using the S235JRC steel grade in accordance with the European standard EN 10025-2. This steel grade has excellent cold formability and is used in the manufacture of building metal structures, electric-welded tubes, and machine-building products. The products are mainly supplied to the Polish and Slovak markets.

In addition, in 2025, the enterprise established the production of hot-rolled coils from the same structural steel group in a new size ‒ with a thickness of 1.8 mm and a width of 1,045 mm. This type of rolled product is used in the production of pipes, hollow and roll-formed sections, welded load-bearing and decorative structures, as well as frames and machine components. Moldova became the key foreign market.

Moreover, Zaporizhstal mastered production of the S280GD cold-rolled coils in 2025. These coils are used for subsequent galvanising and the application of protective coatings, after which the rolled products are used in the manufacture of lightweight steel thin-walled structures ‒ from roofing systems to facade panels. The S280GD coils are also supplied to producers of commercial equipment and racking systems in the domestic Ukrainian market.
