Beating Heart of Steel: Since Beginning of Invasion, Metinvest Has Spent UAH6.9 Billion to Support Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Metinvest has spent UAH6.9 billion to help Ukraine and its citizens. This includes more than UAH3.4 billion for the needs of the national defence forces as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front defence initiative. The Group remains a reliable pillar of the country’s fight against the enemy."The full-scale war has been the toughest test in all 18 years of Metinvest’s existence. Due to the destruction and occupation of Mariupol and Avdiivka, we have suffered perhaps some of the greatest losses among Ukrainian businesses. However, we will never allow the enemy to kill our free will or strip us of our belief in a free future. The Metinvest team is moving forward, every day, supporting Ukraine’s defence forces and civilians, and continuing to work. We remain resilient, serving as a pillar and providing economic stability. In nearly two and a half years, the Group has spent UAH6.9 billion to help the country and its citizens. Ukraine’s heart of stee

Metinvest pursues a strategy for the transition to green steel via by boosting output of DRI pellets – CCO

Long before the war, Metinvest, mining and metallurgical group of companies, developed a strategy for the transition to green steel production, said Dmytro Nikolayenko, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of the Group, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. "We at Metinvest developed a strategy for the transition to green steel long before the war with the support of McKinsey. It provided for the transition of blast furnaces to DRI at our steel mills," he said. At the same time, Mr Nikolayenko noted that there were two biggest problems in the transformation of green steel in the world. The first was the availability of "green" energy, the second was the availability of a source of virgin iron, produced in an environmentally friendly way with the lowest possible carbon emissions. "In both of these tasks, Ukraine can be a very good partner in the European context of this transformation, because we have a very good source of iron ore, which can be very well enriched – up to 70% or

Kamet Steel represents the next stage in the upgrade of gas protection equipment

Modern technologies ensure the safety of work in the gas facilities. Recently, Kamet Steel has added 30 oxygen isolating regenerative respirators R-30EX to bolster its new equipment inventory at the gas rescue station. For the second consecutive year, the enterprise has been implementing a modernization program for protective equipment. This program helps gas rescuers safely prevent and manage emergencies related to gas usage in production. Last year, despite the challenges of wartime, 50% of the fleet of this equipment was renewed. For reference R-30EX respirators are utilized as the primary personal protective equipment for an employee's respiratory system when working in an environment where breathing is not safe.As a reminder, the R-30EX insulating regenerative respirators, which replace the R-34 class respirators, have several technical advantages. First of all, the protective effect of the device is extended to four hours, compared to two hours in the R-34. Additionally, there are

Power engineers at Kamet Steel are overhauling the air separation unit

In the oxygen compressor shop at Kamet Steel, they are working on overhauling the air separation unit KAr-30 No. 3, designed to provide oxygen and nitrogen to technological processes in the main production units, primarily the converter and blast furnace, is underway. The main task of the overhaul is to restore the operability of cryogenic equipment for its safe inclusion in operation, since KAr-30 No. 3 has been in reserve idle for a long time. Андрій Письменний In the work plan, priority is given to repairing cryogenic tanks and valves. Inspection of the main rectification unit is underway, as well as all internal metal pipelines. All internal cryogenic fittings are being inspected. Any technical problems discovered will be dealt with as part of this major overhaul. Specialist contractors are replacing shut-off valves on the nitrogen pipeline and partially renewing thermal insulation materials, restoring monitoring and measuring equipment, and so on.An expert examination of cryogeni

To parents' work: An excursion for the employees' children was held at Central GOK

The Youth Union at Central GOK of Metinvest Group entertained the children of their colleagues at the enterprise. Good sign: the day before mobilisation, Serhii Kotlubai rescued a swan in the open-pit mine

Serhii Kotlubai, a mining foreman at Gannivskyi open-pit mine of Northern GOK, rescued the swan that had flown into the open-pit mine and was unable to get out. It happened during Serhii's shift the day before he was to be sent to the army. The miners saw the exhausted bird near EGK-90 on the horizon - 30 metres of the north side of the Gannivskyi open-pit mine. The day before, one of the bulldozer drivers working nearby tried to feed the bird and give it water in the hope that it would be able to get out of the open-pit mine on its own. But no. So the workers raised the alarm, because the bird would definitely not have been able to survive in the harsh open pit conditions. Serhii Kotlubai volunteered to try to save the bird. "Initially, Serhii suggested taking the swan to a small drainage pond near the place where he was working on the excavation, but I advised him to take it to a large pond at the Plyazhna bus stop: the conditions there are more suitable for birds, and the swan will
