Married couple employed at Zaporizhstal: "We provide mutual support in both our professional duties and domestic life."

Vitaliy and Tetiana Didok have been a couple for approximately six years, having met by chance in a café and remained inseparable ever since. Furthermore, it was through her husband’s encouragement and support that Tetiana became a member of the Zaporizhstal team.

At the time they met, Vitaliy was already employed as a member of the company’s team. He has been employed at the plant since 2004, having joined immediately after completing his studies at Sevastopol National University of Nuclear Energy and Industry, beginning his career as a dosimetrist and steadily advancing through the professional ranks.

"The plant subsequently became my first and only place of employment. I acquired extensive knowledge, and thanks to the guidance of senior colleagues and my own perseverance, I was able to develop into a skilled specialist and ultimately attain a managerial role as head of the rolling shops group," says Vitaliy.

Approximately two years ago, a vacancy became available within their business unit, prompting Tetiana to seize the opportunity and apply for the position.

"I do not possess any formal education in metallurgy or chemistry, as I originally pursued a degree in law. However, this did not pose an obstacle. An opportunity arose to undertake paid training at the plant. I thought to myself, why not seize the opportunity to explore something new? That is how I came to join Zaporizhstal," recalls Tetiana.

The specialist notes that acquiring the skills necessary for the role of a locksmith in instrumentation and automation was made easier with the support of her colleagues. She is currently responsible for the maintenance of the blast furnace radioisotope equipment.

"Mu husband spoke at length about his work and the team within his business unit. As a result, I was already familiar with many individuals and had a clear understanding of the environment I was entering. The team is small, but it is truly exceptional. Everyone is friendly, open, and always willing to help. Did I find the learning process challenging? Naturally, it was challenging, as everything was new and involved numerous technical intricacies. However, with the support of her colleagues and husband, everything fell into place," adds Tetiana.

When asked why they chose Zaporizhstal, they explain that the company offers promising opportunities for everyone, including those just starting their careers. What matters most is having both the passion and aptitude for one’s chosen profession, continuously striving to enhance one’s skills, and approaching all tasks with diligence and responsibility.

"The whole of Ukraine is enduring the severe trials brought about by war. Zaporizhstal, along with its dedicated workforce, is no exception to these challenging circumstances. However, we are all aware that our work contributes to sustaining the economy and supporting the Ukrainian armed forces in their stand against the adversary. Despite the prolonged and challenging economic conditions, the plant remains committed to its employees, consistently seeking ways to support them and their families during difficult life circumstances. It also ensures the timely and stable payment of salaries, along with regular increases. All of this is deeply appreciated," note Vitaliy and Tetiana.

Zaporizhstal has announced an open recruitment for the following specialist positions: metal pour preparation operator, hot return doser, locomotive driver assistant, crane operator, and others. The enterprise offers a paid training programme for acquiring a profession.
