A sudden worsening of health or injury may occur at any time, so the ability to provide first aid quickly and correctly remains a crucial skill. In wartime, the importance of such training has only increased, as the risk of emergencies is significantly higher.
That is why Zaporizhstal has first aid brigades consisting of employees who have completed special training and possess basic emergency response skills. The composition of the brigades is constantly being updated: new members undergo intensive training, while employees who are already part of the brigades regularly take part in refresher courses and practical drills.
Another two-day intensive training course for employees who joined the first aid brigades took place at the end of May. This time, 16 employees from Metinvest enterprises in Zaporizhzhia completed the training, including 12 employees from Zaporizhstal.
The programme was highly practical. Participants practised first aid procedures for severe traumatic injuries, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, response procedures for traumatic amputations and fractures, methods of stopping severe bleeding, and response algorithms for other emergency situations.
Denys MAZ, Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Department:
"In a critical situation, every minute matters. It is important that a person does not panic and can act quickly and correctly. That is why we are systematically expanding the number of first aid brigades and maintaining employees' practical skills at an appropriate level."
