Refresher training at Zaporizhstal for pre-medical aid teams

Knowledge that is not used in practice has a tendency to be forgotten. If it concerns skills of proper response to emergency situations, unpractised actions may cost lives.

In order to ensure that Zaporizhstal employees, who are part of pre-medical aid teams, can act confidently in emergency situations, refresher training with specialists from the Red Cross is organised regularly.

230 employees of pre-medical aid teams will undergo practical training from August to November

"It is worth noting that they already have basic knowledge of how to provide pre-medical aid. However, they have training every year to refresh their skills. We repeat basic algorithms and practical skills to make sure that each employee acts confidently and properly without hesitation, and is able to save themselves or their colleagues," emphasized Denys MAZ, head of the occupational safety department.

The training programme incorporates theory and practice. During the first phase, they will refresh their basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and study procedures for different types of injuries and medical emergencies. Next come the practice. Employees will drill their skills on training mannequins and in pairs: how to stop bleeding, apply bandages, and perform CPR, etc.
