Metinvest Iron Ore Plants Implement a Family Support Programme for Employees

Since the start of the year, 155 employees of Metinvest Iron Ore Plants have received financial assistance to mark the birth of a child or their first marriage.

Despite the hardships of wartime, the well-being of Metinvest employees remains one of the key priorities of its social policy. At the company’s Integrated Iron Ore, a programme is in place to provide financial assistance to employees on the occasion of joyful family events – the birth of a child or their first marriage. The financial assistance is paid immediately after the relevant documents are submitted.

Employees whose families have welcomed a newborn receive a one-off payment equal to the minimum wage at the time of disbursement (currently UAH 8 ths). Employees marrying for the first time receive assistance of around UAH 6,5 ths (the payment is made to each newlywed if both work at the company).

“I didn’t know about this programme, but my colleagues told me. My daughter is already the third, she was born in December 2024, and by the time we got the birth certificate sorted, we received the assistance this year. We also have an older daughter and a middle son – both schoolchildren. We are grateful for this gift from the plant: In the challenging times, such attention brings joy and inspiration. Children’s needs can’t be put on hold, and you want to give them everything they need and everything that’s best. Thank you for the support, it means a lot," said Maksym MOSKALENKO, an electrical fitter at Hannivskyi open pit mine of Northern Iron Ore.

The support programme was introduced at Metinvest Iron Ore plants two years ago.

“We support our employees, most of whom are young people, and we find ways to do so even amid the severe challenges of war. These are joyful and the most important family events in anyone’s life, and we’re glad to be part of them and congratulate our employees’ families in this way. The programme continues despite today’s economic challenges, because our people and their well-being are a priority of the company’s social policy,” stressed Oleksandr SHULIKA, head of HR at Metinvest Iron Ore plants.
