Kryvyi Rih hosted a major (non)conference for teachers Mini-EdCamp KRYVIYI RIH 2024. Metinvest Group supported the event, which discussed advanced educational methods in the educational processes of preschools, schools and universities.
The mini-EdCamp brought together about a hundred teachers and educators from all over Ukraine to communicate, learn and share their experiences. The event was organised for the second time by teachers from Kryvyi Rih Lyceum No. 70, who noted that each participant was free to choose blocks and areas of work: they could act as a speaker or just attend a session of their colleagues. At this year's meeting, the sessions were held in several formats: offline, online and in a mixed format.
"Our event is of particular importance. We want our teachers to come here and gain strength and inspiration – we need to finish this school year well. The main challenge for us today is that while our guys are fighting there, we need to help them here, to give the best knowledge to our children. We must also have the same strength and inspiration on our educational front," Olena LIZOGUB, co-organiser of the event and teacher at Lyceum No. 70, said.
At the event, the Ukrainian professional and pedagogical community discussed the issues and challenges facing teachers today. Topics included overcoming educational losses, use of artificial intelligence, speech therapy, and teaching children with special needs.
"At such meetings, teachers can share their experiences. They are inspired by ideas and best practices. This movement is very much needed, it enriches and enables them to grow in the profession," Victoria POLIAKOVA, representative of the Department of Education and Science of the Kryvyi Rih Executive Committee, said.
Since 2018, Metinvest and the non-governmental organisation Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future have been supporting the modern format of the meeting of educators who are launching and implementing new approaches in Ukrainian education in Kryvyi Rih.
"Our NGO, in partnership with Metinvest Group, has been involved in the implementation of many educational programmes in Kryvyi Rih, both for teachers and children. We have been together since the first EdCamp in 2018. We also supported the STEAM-Camp leadership programme, where science teachers were able to improve their knowledge so that their students could achieve the highest scores at the external independent evaluation. Together with business and partners, we co-organised the STEM IS FEM exhibition, which promotes the role of women in science. Currently, the support from Metinvest and the Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future is focused on a vital issue of safety of pupils and teachers. That is why last year and this year we have been directing our support to the construction of shelters in educational institutions of different levels of the city," said Olena LESHCHENKO, Director of the non-government organisation Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future.
