The State Emergency Service specialists are among the first to arrive at the sites of enemy missile hits, which are quite often in Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia region. Therefore, Metinvest has been providing rescuers with protective equipment since the beginning of the full-scale war.
Recently, Denys Sylantiev, an Olympic medallist in swimming, donated 15 bulletproof vests to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhya region.
“I am very grateful to each of the rescuers for their hard work. It is difficult physically and psychologically, but extremely important, especially in the realities of war. It's not the first time we've helped both the State Emergency Service and military doctors, and we will continue to do so in the future to ensure the maximum safety of our rescuers,” says Denys SYLANTIEV.
The bulletproof vest weighs up to 9 kilograms and has a high protection class 4. They will be used to equip rescuers working in the frontline towns and villages of Zaporizhzhia region who are directly involved in the mitigation of enemy attacks.
“We will distribute these bulletproof vests to all units of our Zaporizhzhia post that need to upgrade their existing vests. We thank Metinvest and Denys Sylantiev for such important support and sustainable protection,” said Oleksiy PUGA, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhya region.
The rescuers say that the enemy is insidious. So they need additional protection when working at the sites where Russian missiles hit.
“There have been several cases when the enemy has repeatedly struck at places where rescuers are already working. In addition, there are still fragments of missiles at the sites of the hits that could detonate at any time. Our work is dangerous, so we need the most effective protective equipment,” said Oleksiy SUKHORUKOV, chief of guard of the first state fire and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhya region.
During the full-scale war, Metinvest has donated more than 150,000 bulletproof vests to civilians and the military as part of Steel Front, Rinat Akhmetov's defence initiative.
