Metinvest Supplies 110 Thermal Weapon Sights for Ukrainian Intelligence

Metinvest Group continues to support Ukraine’s defenders as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. This time, 110 high-tech thermal weapon sights costing UAH11 million have been sent to the front line for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

To support the combat capability of our defenders, Metinvest Group has been supplying body armour, tactical gear, vehicles and equipment to the front line. As part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine have received 110 thermal weapon sights from Metinvest. These are state-of-the-art devices equipped with innovative, highly sensitive matrices. They have been purchased in different countries and delivered to Ukraine over about three months. The total cost of the equipment is UAH11 million.

FACT

Pulsar Helion and Krypton thermal imaging monoculars are among the best on the market. They are equipped with a bolometric matrix with unprecedented thermal sensitivity. They deliver highly detailed imagery that make it possible to identify landscape features and even the smallest details of the observed object.

Such devices can be installed as attachments to conventional optical sights or used separately. Soldiers use them in special operations behind enemy lines, as well as for observation and patrolling on their own territory. However, the primary purpose of thermal weapon sights is to perform combat missions.

“Every day, the Ukrainian army is strengthened with much-needed modern equipment. Drones, thermal imagers and night vision devices give our soldiers an advantage in fending off the invaders. Officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate requested these sights back in summer. However, now they have become even more relevant, because daylight hours have decreased and our soldiers need them more often. The enemy does not have such equipment, so it gives our guys a significant advantage. Metinvest supports the army as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative, so we are heading for victory together,” said Oleksandr VODOVIZ, head of Metinvest Group’s CEO project office.

ADVANTAGES

Thermal imaging sights perform well in difficult conditions, including rainy, snowy and foggy weather. They also have an optical zoom lens with a target detection range of over 2000 metres. Waterproof cases protect the devices from rain, snow and drizzle. Monoculars can withstand immersion under water for half an hour.

“We have been waiting for this supply of sights for a long time, because there are missions that require the use of expensive special equipment that is difficult to find and buy. We thank Metinvest for always coming to the aid of the military,” said Andriy YUSOV, spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

This is not the first time that Metinvest Group has provided assistance to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. In mid-September, the company handed over 300 drones to the Defence Intelligence and ground forces.

Since the outbreak of the war, Rinat Akhmetov and Vadym Novynsky’s Metinvest Group has spent over UAH2 billion on aid for Ukraine and Ukrainians. Of this, UAH1.3 billion has been allocated to support the army and military forces.
