Metinvest donates one hundred mobile shelters to Ukrainian defenders

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Metinvest Group has been actively involved in Ukraine's fight against the aggressor. One of the most important areas is providing comprehensive assistance to the defenders as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front military initiative. In particular, the company has already delivered one hundred special mobile shelters to the frontline. Most of them are being used to protect the defenders in the most fiercely fought areas of the frontline, including near Bakhmut.

Among the most popular protective equipment for the defenders are safety modules that allow them to quickly set up mobile shelters on the front lines. The prefabricated structures, which are 2 meters in diameter and 6 meters in length, are manufactured at the company's facilities. The structures, made of corrugated steel with a thickness of 2 mm and over, were modified by the Ukrainian military using the Soviet model with the help of Metinvest's engineers.

Thousands of Ukrainian defenders have already tested the mobile shelter in the field and confirm that if properly installed one and a half meters underground, it can withstand attacks from mortar shells of up to 152 mm. The geography of the capsules is quite wide: they reliably protect the lives of soldiers in Avdiivka, Pokrovsk, in Zaporizhzhia and Zhytomyr regions. Recently, Metinvest handed over the 100th shelter to the defenders, which will save the lives of soldiers near Bakhmut. The soldiers note that such assistance is extremely important and helps to maintain fighting spirit.

- Ukraine's defenders are protecting our cities and Ukrainians day and night, keeping watch at combat positions without taking a rest. Metinvest systematically provides assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to support their fighting spirit and will to fight. Since the start of Russia's full-scale aggression, Metinvest has shipped the 100th mobile shelter, which will serve as a reliable shelter and temporary resting place for our soldiers in the Donetsk sector. The safety module will protect the lives of the defenders near Bakhmut. We believe in the victory of Ukraine and are doing everything possible to ensure it, - Oleksandr MYRONENKO, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest Group, said.

Metinvest is donating modular shelters to the hottest spots in the frontline, such as the Avdiivka sector

The shelters are equipped with a field stove to keep people warm, heat food and dry clothes. The mobile capsule can accommodate six soldiers at a time. The shelter is equipped with air communications and weapon racks, as well as a main and backup exit to the surface.

FACT

One shelter requires almost 2 tons of Metinvest steel. So one hundred shelters means almost 200 tons of steel that turns into real armor underground. The hard and much-needed work on one shelter takes 165 man-hours.

In addition, Metinvest's specialists have developed a prototype of a "capsule" that can be used for civilian Ukrainians. The diameter and length of the structure were increased by one and a half times, the internal equipment was improved, and the sleeping places were replaced with benches. Final testing is currently underway.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Metinvest Group has donated over UAH 1.5 billion in support to the army. In addition to protective gear, the company supplies tactical equipment and machinery to the frontline. Recently, a record-breaking batch of DJI Mavic 3 drones was delivered to the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The drones will be sent to the eastern and southern sectors of the front line.
