Representatives of Metinvest's enterprises in Kryvyi Rih, potential employers of today's vocational school students, took part in a roundtable discussion at the Career and Entrepreneurship Centre of Ingulets Vocational Lyceum. The participants discussed how to support future skilled workers from the first steps in profession, provide them with jobs and motivate them to grow professionally.
Ingulets Vocational Lyceum welcomed guests and participants with open-air workshops. The students of the lyceum demonstrated their skills in welding, drilling and metal cutting. Teachers supervised their work, employers looked closely at the most talented, and senior pupils of schools watched with interest. Soon, some of these young people will decide to get their vocational education here, and later come to work for an industrial enterprise.
To help young people and all those who want to find a profession, the 'I Am a PRO' centre for career and entrepreneurship was set up at the Ingulets Lyceum. According to the organisers, students, local residents, internally displaced persons and demobilised soldiers will be able to receive advice on building a career, changing their professional area, advanced training, practical training and job search.
"We have decided to create a link between stakeholders: employers, students, future students and their parents, and everyone who needs our services. We plan to implement important collaborations with companies, receive support from them and, at the same time, promote their brands. And at the same time, we want to be a good stepping stone for our graduates," said Daria MOSKALIUK, Deputy Director of Education at Ingulets Vocational Lyceum.
To promote and develop technical professions among young people in Kryvbas, Metinvest's Ingulets GOK and the vocational lyceum signed a memorandum of cooperation earlier. As a result, hundreds of students were able to undergo an on-the-job training at a large enterprise and thus had the opportunity to learn all the details of their chosen profession without using textbooks. According to the leading HR specialists from Metinvest's Kryvyi Rih enterprises who took part in the roundtable, the comprehensive work of the centre will help future specialists make their career choice and find a promising job.
"In a career guidance space with the support of consultants, it will be easier for young people to make a choice in favour of a profession in demand. And we, the employers, will provide up-to-date information on the competencies required in the workplace. This will help the educational institution to focus on them when training new specialists," said Mykhailo TSURKAN, HR and Social Issues Director of Ingulets GOK, Metinvest Group.
Representatives of Metinvest Polytechnic, the first non-state mining and metallurgical university, were among the participants of the roundtable. The technical university and Ingulets Vocational Lyceum signed a cooperation agreement to introduce a system of continuing education. This cooperation will allow students of the lyceum to continue their studies under modern educational programmes at a higher education institution and become more sought-after specialists in the labour market in the future.
