According to the 2023-2024 investment programme, Kamet-Steel purchased a new coal charging machine of an improved modification for coke oven battery #5.

The coal charging machine is one of the most important process elements in the coke production process. It collects the charge from the coal tower and delivers it into the coking chambers, thereby ensuring a continuous production process.

The large structural machine assembly in major units and electrical installation works were carried out without stopping the coke oven battery in the current conditions of the coke shop, and the equipment was adjusted during maintenance breaks.

The specialists of the Capital Construction and Investment Directorate organised the setup and adjustment in accordance with the current production process at COB #5, and the commissioning and hot testing of the CCM was carried out in a working mode. Pilot tests were also successful, and the new equipment has been successfully commissioned today.

"The new coal charging machine has a number of technical advantages; it is an efficient and safe equipment with high reliability. The technical characteristic of the new machine is significantly ahead of its predecessor, which was used here earlier. The electrical system includes imported Siemens equipment and has automated control. Most of the functions are delegated to the control post, and there is no need to employ additional staff, except for the operator inside the cab. The implementation of this important project is a solid foundation for the stable operation of Kamet-Steel's coke shop. This is our joint contribution to the plant operation to support the economy of Ukraine and for the sake of the soonest possible Victory," said Oleksandr POSTOLNIK, Head of the Capital Construction Work Management Department.
