In Kryvyi Rih, members of the EdCamp educational community held a (non)conference "Rebranding Youth Career Guidance: Self-Realisation and Success". Metinvest was a partner of the event.
Educators who dream of the development and progressive movement of the education system gathered to share their experiences and opinions at the second EdCamp (non)conference in Kryvyi Rih this year. The organisers dedicated the event to discussing career guidance and the prospects for Ukraine's recovery.
"Together with our colleagues, we are discussing a very important issue for Kryvyi Rih – career guidance for the younger generation. Our city has strong educational institutions and universities, but every family of a upper-form pupil faces the issue of prospects. We want to convey to our pupils that Kryvyi Rih is a city that has all the opportunities to get a quality education and start a professional career," said Olga DOBROVOLSKA, director of Lyceum 119 and organiser of the event.
In addition to teachers, experts from large enterprises and public organisations were invited to the event. Together with educators, industrialists and public figures discussed how to help teenagers make a conscious and promising choice of their future profession. Metinvest, as one of the largest employers in Kryvyi Rih, is interested in improving the quality of education and raising the prestige of technical professions. For many years, in partnership with NGO "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future", the company has been supporting educational programmes, including the EdCamp movement, which was launched in the city in 2018.
"By joining forces with Metinvest, we were able to organise leadership educational programmes for teachers in the city. Hundreds of teachers took part in forums and festivals, psychological support, and professional development projects. With the support of business, we managed to improve the facilities and resources of educational institutions, which now have training and practical centres, modern workshops, and mother and child rooms. Currently, our cooperation is also focused on the construction of shelters. We want the educational process to be systematic and safe. Since 2023, Metinvest has helped to create appropriate conditions in the shelters of six educational institutions of different levels in Kryvyi Rih," – Olena LESHCHENKO, Director of NGO "Kryvyi Rih Foundation for the Future", said.
During the meeting, the experts shared their experience of career guidance activities during the war, modern approaches to working with young people, and discussed the introduction of new areas in the education system.
"We are currently implementing a project in the city, an important part of which is to transform the education system, improve its quality and adapt it to the real needs of the labour market. We communicate closely with Kryvyi Rih businesses and entrepreneurs because the main principle of the transformation strategy is lifelong learning – opportunities to change professions or improve skills," – Deputy Mayor of Kryvyi Rih Serhii MILIUTIN, said.
The teachers worked in the formats of expert and teacher sessions, panel discussions, and creative workshops. The teachers will implement the new knowledge and experience in their schools.
