Metinvest Provides More Aid to Strengthen Ukraine’s Borders

Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative continues to support the defenders of Ukraine. This time, Metinvest Group has supplied vital equipment to the country’s State Border Service. To date, the total value of aid to the State Border Service is UAH12 million.

During the war, the country’s borders have received particular attention because the danger of enemy invasion remains. To increase confidence among the defenders of Ukraine’s borders, Metinvest has been providing them with systematic support in the form of machinery, equipment and construction materials.

The new delivery for the State Border Service includes 40 DJI Mavic 3 and Air 2 drones, 20 thermal imagers, 30 EcoFlow multi-charging stations and 30 6-KW generators. The Group also sent 300 sets of winter uniforms and thermal clothing (jacket, pants, hat, scarf, gloves, socks, bandana) and 50 pairs of Lowa tactical shoes for soldiers. The total cost amounted to UAH12 million.

In addition, 100 tonnes of steel structures were supplied to border guards to restore posts. This is the second time that Metinvest has provided steel for repairing structures. Previously, the Group delivered 120 tonnes of steel to strengthen border lines.

Modern equipment will allow the State Border Service to keep positions under control even at night, while the military will be able to conduct surveillance remotely, remaining in a safe place. Generators and charging stations will provide electricity to border crossings not connected to the grid

Commenting, Oleksandr Vodoviz, head of the Metinvest CEO’s Project Management Office, said: “The next aid package is on the way to our friends, the border guards. We are providing generators and EcoFlow batteries of various capacities so that they can set up their positions. Drones and thermal imagers will help them to carry out special operations. We also ordered warm uniforms, special shoes and thermal clothing, which are always relevant in winter. This time, UAH12 million was spent on supporting the State Border Service of Ukraine as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. Of course, it is increasingly complicated for us to find large quantities of scarce machinery and equipment, but Metinvest will continue to support the Ukrainian army until victory. We do not favour separate units, we help everyone: border guards, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Defence Intelligence and Special Operation Forces troops. We try to help everyone who asks. We do not choose cheap equipment and we do not look for any compromises, because if a generator stops working on the front line, for example, it can destroy the lives of our people.”

FACT

In total, Metinvest has allocated more than UAH1.5 billion to support the defenders of Ukraine

Commenting, Oleksandr Sebalo, a representative of the State Border Service of Ukraine, said: “Drones and thermal imagers are our ‘eyes’: they help to destroy enemies effectively. We also really need large-capacity power banks, because at ‘zero’, we cannot use noisy generators, as it exposes our positions. Regarding uniforms, they are always necessary during war because clothes can become unusable even in a day on the battlefield. This is the price of victory. We are sincerely grateful to Metinvest Group for the first-class assistance provided. In the near future, these supplies will go to the regions where active hostilities are currently taking place.”

Previously, Metinvest provided the State Border Service with 40 drones, 10 thermal imagers, three cars and 120 tonnes of steel structures.
