Artem Logachov: «The main need of people during the war is security»

How, in the context of the full-scale war, business is changing its approaches to programs of financial incentives and social support for employees, said Artem Logachev, Director of the Organisational Management and Compensation Management Department of Metinvest Group, at Employer Branding Community Day 2025, held in Kyiv.

EBC Day 2025 is a conference aimed at exchanging knowledge and cases in the field of employer brand development. The organizer of the event is the Employer Branding Community, a professional community that develops employer branding as a business function and promotes the development of specialists.

Artem Logachov took part in the panel "New Dimensions of Care in the Civil and Military Worlds». Representatives of Fozzy Group and CORE Team Military & Defense Tech Recruitment joined the discussion. They discussed how, in the conditions of war, business is changing its approaches to compensations and benefits, which areas of support are becoming must-haves, and what is gradually losing its relevance.

"The war has significantly changed the concept of business caring for its employees. Metinvest's production facilities in Ukraine are concentrated in the frontline regions, so it is logical that the main need of people now is a sense of security. Therefore, Metinvest's social support programs have been refocused on helping defenders and injured civilians, restoring the infrastructure of communities after shelling," said Director of the Organisational Management and Compensation Management Department of Metinvest.

According to him, the company is working to offer teams special support programs depending on the category of employees. For example, a whole ecosystem of reintegration into life and work has already been created for war veterans. Metinvest also helps mobilized employees and families of defenders. Gradually, a category of people 55+ years old is being formed, etc.

To support the team, since April 1, 2025, Metinvest has increased salaries at production and service enterprises in Ukraine to 20%, depending on the category. The largest increase was received by specialists in hard-to-fill positions.

 

As Artem Logachov noted, during the war, Metinvest also changed its approach to financial incentive programs. This is due to the loss of control over assets in Mariupol, Avdiivka, the suspension of the activities of Colliery Group Pokrovske, and, accordingly, the need to adapt all business processes to the new conditions of operation.

Metinvest introduces a differentiated approach to motivation depending on the category of personnel. Thus, there are two types of bonuses at the company's Ukrainian industrial enterprises. This is a production bonus that forms collective responsibility for the results of work - the implementation of the operational plan and maintaining the quality of products. It contributes to team cohesion to achieve production indicators under martial law and personnel shortages. The second is a team performance bonus aimed at achieving operational effects. Therefore, all production and repair personnel of Metinvest are focused on the production and shipment of products of proper quality with optimal monthly costs.

At the end, Artem Logachov emphasized that the main value of Metinvest is the people who helped the company survive in the most difficult times. The future of the company, the national mining and metallurgical industry and the whole country depends on their work, involvement and leadership.
