As is tradition for Metallurgists' and Miners' Day, Metinvest Group awards Gold Stars to outstanding specialists from its enterprises. This year, one of the awardees of the highest corporate honor is Andriy Molchanov, a mechanic from the dewatering section of Ore Beneficiation Plant No. 1 at YuGOK.
In nearly two decades at the plant, Andrey Molchanov has gained valuable experience, earned the respect of his team, and confirmed that he's truly passionate about his work. Since childhood, he dreamed of working with cars and even graduated from a motor transport college. But after serving in the army, he realized that he was not interested in repairing cars. Although he didn't become a car mechanic, he started working at YuGOK's Ore Beneficiation Plant No. 1 as an on-duty mechanic and equipment repair technician. His father, who had also spent many years working at OBP-1, became a trusted advisor at his new job, always ready to answer the questions of his young and inexperienced son.
Talented Andriy managed to do everything easily. He balanced work while attending evening classes at the Faculty of Mechanical Equipment at Kryvyi Rih Technical University. His strong organizational skills and efficient use of time helped him quickly master his new profession.
In 2015, Andriy Molchanov was promoted to mechanic of the dewatering site. At first, he was concerned about whether he could handle it, given the size of the business unit and the complexity of the equipment. He had both experienced and very young employees under his command; it was necessary to find a common language with everyone. Together with like-minded colleagues, our colleague enthusiastically developed and implemented operational improvement projects that brought a significant economic effect to the enterprise. On his initiative, the factory introduced the reuse of waste process water in the recirculating water supply cycle. Also, the site mechanic submitted a proposal and implemented measures to reduce the time of scheduled repairs of the concentrate pumping system from process sections No. 9-10 to sections No. 3-8. This year, Andriy Molchanov proposed to restore the cell shaft in the vacuum filter, which will save money on the purchase of a new one.
"Andriy always persistently and energetically pursues his goal. He performs any task with maximum efficiency, reacts sharply when he sees a mess in the workplace. Difficulties have never stopped him," says Oleg RIABTSEV, the head of the ore beneficiation plant No. 1, about our hero.
For Andriy, awarding him with the Gold Star was a big and pleasant surprise.
"Those who love what they do don't work for awards. The fact that I've received the Gold Star shows how highly my work is appreciated, so I don't want to stop there. And I also want to thank the entire OBP-1 team, our friendly working family, because I think this is their award as well.
