Recently, Zaporizhstal employees have paid a visit to Oleksandr Bakurov, a long-serving employee of the steelworks and Honoured Metallurgist of Ukraine.
"Zaporizhstal's steel workers are our pride. Both those who built and developed the steelworks many years ago and those follow in their footsteps now. Our senior colleagues worked with dedication, set an example for young workers, acted as their mentors, and passed on their invaluable experience. And today we all would like to congratulate Oleksandr Pavlovich on his anniversary and wish him health, long life, prosperity and peace," said Roman SLOBODIANIUK.
Oleksandr Pavlovych dedicated 30 years of his life to the slabbing mill. At the age of 24, he became a senior re-heating operator. He says it would not have been possible but for the support of his co-workers. Even now, the man often recalls his time at Zaporizhstal and keeps in touch with steel workers who are still working.
"I had very good mentors, each of whom I remember and respect to this day. They really taught me a lot and always set an example. All of us worked as a team, knew our business well and achieved high results in our work. Now I also often communicate with those who still work at the enterprise. Sometimes I can even give advice, consult on things. Or I just find out the latest news about the life of my enterprise and shop," the veteran recalls.
Oleksandr Bakurov is convinced that Zaporizhstal now is more important for Zaporizhzhia's residents and the whole country than every before.
"The steelworks has always supported the city and paid taxes. It is hard to imagine a world without steel. At any time, it will be needed, so the steel industry in our region must work. Even in the worst of times, which I also experienced, Zaporizhstal never stopped taking care of its employees and paying salaries. Both then and now, the company remains a reliable pillar for its people, for Zaporizhzhia, and for Ukraine as a whole. I wish the plant endurance and steadfastness, and a speedy victory!" said Oleksandr BAKUROV.
