Zaporizhstal workers receive vital knowledge in the workplace

Since 24 February 2022, after the russian federation launched a full-scale war against Ukraine, civilian casualties amount to at least 30,457 people, including 10,582 dead, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) reported.

In the business units of Zaporizhstal, in some places right at the production sites, first aid training for employees has been ongoing for about two years. Every week, with the involvement of the plant’s doctors, Zaporizhstal workers learn to stop bleeding, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and act correctly in the event of injury or deterioration of health at the workplace in conditions close to real ones.

– We pay special attention to training and its consistency, as our company operates in the frontline city. Together with our employees, we not only repeat theoretical material, but also periodically polish up our practical skills. The life of a person or colleagues can depend on the correct actions, which are practised until they become automatic even under stress, – Tetiana NOVIKOVA, a specialist of HSE Directorate, says.

In 2023, Zaporizhstal conducted 815 first aid training sessions for employees

The training is aimed at practicing the algorithm of actions during the provision of first aid in a safe and relatively safe place.

Recently, such training was held at Zaporizhstal's radioisotope laboratory. During the training, employees, together with Zaporizhstal's experienced medical staff and specialists of HSE Directorate, practised the actions required to stop bleeding of various types and degrees.

– Employees of the laboratory, as well as employees of other structural units of the enterprise, regularly take part in training sessions and hone their skills, in particular, in stopping bleeding. This week, the training took place several times at the health centre of the Cold Rolling Shop. In general, getting the opportunity to learn vital skills from professional doctors for free is a great advantage, so we are learning together, – Oleg NEKIPELOV, Head of Radioisotope Laboratory, added.
