The company held a solemn team meeting to award the best employees. Given the state of martial law, Zaporizhcoke refused to hold mass gathering festivities in order not to expose its employees to danger.
“Despite the full-scale war, Zaporizhcoke has been operating steadily, supporting the economy of our country and our hometown. In 2023 alone, the plant produced about one million tonnes of gross coke, which is almost 30% of the total produced coke in Ukraine. The key to our high results is the professionalism and unity of our team, whose employees work in production, defend at the frontline and help each other. I thank every employee of Zaporizhcoke for our powerful joint work that brings the Victory of Ukraine closer!”, said Oleksandr BEKHTER, CEO of Zaporizhcoke.
Twelve specialists who made the greatest contribution to ensuring the stable operation of the enterprise during the war were awarded certificates of honour from Zaporizhcoke, the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Metallurgists and Miners of Ukraine and the trade union organisation of the enterprise. The teams of the Coke Shop, Recovery and desulfurization shop were awarded Metinvest's Certificate of Honour and certificates for improving the working environment of their departments.
Over its 90-year history, Zaporizhcoke has produced almost 120 million tonnes of gross coke. The company is systematically upgrading its production facilities, including coke oven batteries, improving the quality and expanding the range of chemical products. In particular, a new electrode pitch granulation line was launched in 2019. In 2020, Zaporizhcoke put into pilot operation a new mini-cooling tower for cooling process water in the coal tar processing shop. The company is successfully implementing energy saving projects, including a project to exchange secondary gases with Zaporizhstal.
