Filip Kharchuk from Zaporizhstal was one of the first to receive a master's diploma from Metinvest Polytechnic this year.
Filip Kharchuk has been working as a furnace helper at Zaporizhstal for two years already. He is a process engineer by profession, but during the war, the ambitious Zaporizhstal employee decided to continue his studies and get a second degree. This is how he became a student of the first private mining and metals university Metinvest Polytechnic.
"I was already employed with Zaporizhstal when I found out that Metinvest Polytechnic had announced recruitment and that the company's employees could study for free at the expense of the Company. I didn't hesitate to apply, and my studies began. While, of course, it was not easy to juggle work and study, the schedule at the university was quite flexible, we could study in the evenings, so we would find time," says Filip KHARCHUK.
Filip is a graduate of the master's programme "Steel metallurgy". He was awarded a Metinvest Polytechnic diploma during the graduation ceremony held in Kyiv. He says this was a milestone event for him personally, for other graduates, and for the university.
The specialised education and knowledge gained at Metinvest Polytechnic will help him move up the career ladder faster, says the young and ambitious employee of Zaporizhstal's melt shop.
"I have a lot of plans for the future, I have a goal, and I don't plan to stop. As the next step, I want to apply for postgraduate study and continue to develop in the steel-making field. I love my profession, my job. When you understand the scale of the processes you are engaged in, it is inspiring. I am confident that I will be able to succeed and build a good career," added Filip.
As a reminder, recently, the state-of-the-art university Metinvest Polytechnic has produced its first-ever graduates majoring in engineering and technical disciplines. 143 master's degree graduates have received the diplomas that empower them to work at any enterprise in the world. All study programmes are accredited by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
Most of the graduates are employees of Metinvest's enterprises who plan to continue to develop in their field and climb the careers ladder while remaining Ukraine's reliable pillar. Among them are Zaporizhstal employees. The first students of the state-of-the-art technical university included 40 Zaporizhstal employees who demonstrated their eagerness to learn. The cohort of the first graduates of Metinvest Polytechnic includes nine employees of the plant.
