First Intellectual Battle Among Lecturers at Metinvest Polytechnic

Metinvest Polytechnic hosted the MiP Quiz: Battle of Minds, an intellectual quiz that brought together university lecturers in a friendly team-based competition.

The event became another example of how the university community thrives not only on academic programmes, projects and research, but also on shared initiatives that help people get to know one another better, build trust and create a genuine team spirit.

The idea for the quiz came from university alumni and employees of Metinvest enterprises – Kateryna Avlasionok, Oleksandr Smyrnov and Denys Kononiuk. They developed the concept of the game and took responsibility for its organisation.

It is symbolic that the organisers were graduates of Metinvest Polytechnic who, even after completing their studies, remain an active part of the university community and strive to develop the environment that once became an important stage in their professional growth.

Two teams of lecturers took part in the quiz. They faced questions from various fields of knowledge, logical tasks, and rounds that required not only erudition, but also quick thinking, the ability to listen to teammates and find unconventional solutions. The atmosphere combined the excitement of intellectual competition with lively communication and genuine emotions.

The honorary judge of the battle was the Rector of Metinvest Polytechnic, Oleksandr POVAZHNYI, who thanked the organisers for the initiative and emphasised the importance of such events for the development of university culture.

"A university is first and foremost about people. It is precisely through such initiatives that an atmosphere is created which unites lecturers, students, alumni and partners into one community. It is especially valuable when our graduates propose ideas for such events, as this demonstrates a strong connection with the university and a desire to contribute to its development," the Rector noted.

After the game, lecturers shared their impressions. Many emphasised that the quiz offered an opportunity to step beyond their usual working roles, feel the team spirit and gain a new perspective on working with colleagues. Participants spoke about the excitement, the desire to win, the tension during difficult rounds, and at the same time about the special sense of unity that arises when the entire team works towards a shared goal.

The winners of the first MiP Quiz received the Rector's Cup of Metinvest Polytechnic. At the same time, the award has a much broader meaning than merely a prize for winning. The organisers plan to make the intellectual battle a good university tradition, and the cup a travelling symbol of team leadership, cohesion and the drive for development. Each year it will be passed on to new winners, reminding everyone that the true strength of a university lies not only in knowledge, but also in the people who shape its present and future.

MiP Quiz: Battle of Minds became more than just an intellectual game. It became an opportunity to come together, communicate beyond work matters, feel the support of colleagues and once again confirm that Metinvest Polytechnic is a community of like-minded people where knowledge, initiative and teamwork are valued.
