Power of Support: Metinvest's Enterprise in Zaporizhzhia Held a Donor Campaign

A donor campaign to collect blood for the needs of city hospitals took place at Zaporizhcoke.

To help patients requiring urgent medical attention, 32 employees of the enterprise joined the initiative and donated blood. Overall, over 15 litres of blood were donated during the campaign, which means dozens of potentially saved lives.

"Blood donation is about responsibility and humanity for me. We often think that saving someone's life requires heroic actions; however, sometimes it is enough to come and donate blood. This is not difficult, but can be crucial for someone," shared Maksym SHAPOVALOV, Head of the By-product Capture Shop.

Today, the need for donor blood in Zaporizhzhia remains high and continues to grow, especially because of hostilities. Blood is required for surgeries, treating the injured, assisting affected civilians, patients with serious illnesses, women in labour, and people who need urgent blood transfusions. Donor blood cannot be replaced with artificial alternatives; it can only be donated from one person to another.

Employees at Zaporizhcoke are convinced that blood donation is a culture of mutual support, which is extremely important today.

"I take part in such campaigns because I understand that my blood can save someone's life. This does not require much effort, but it is a significant support for those who need it. Such initiatives unite and remind us that helping others is easy," said Oleksii ARTIUSHYN, a wagon tippler driver in the Coke Shop at Zaporizhcoke.

For Metinvest's teams, participating in various charity and volunteer events is a tradition. In total, over 60 employees of Zaporizhstal donate blood on a monthly basis.
