Around 40 enterprises and educational institutions presented employment and training opportunities for Defenders who have returned from the front. The first veterans’ job fair called “New Opportunities After Service” was held in Zaporizhzhia. It brought together over 200 participants – veterans, their relatives, families of fallen Defenders, as well as representatives of veteran organisations. This job fair is intended to support veterans in their recovery, help them find their place in civilian life, and continue contributing to the development of strong and independent Ukraine. Metinvest Digital, Metinvest Group’s digital transformation partner, has been recognised as one of the ten largest subsidiary IT companies in Ukrainian business, according to Forbes Ukraine.The longlist of IT subsidiaries of Ukraine’s largest companies was compiled based on Forbes Ukraine’s “30 Champions of Digitalisation” and “202 Largest Companies” ratings. The top ten included those with the highest revenue in 2024, according to YouControl, Ukraine’s leading online company verification service.According to the publication, the total revenue of the ten IT subsidiaries of Ukraine’s largest companies amounted to UAH7 billion (US$174 million) in 2024. In US dollar terms, this represents a 160% increase compared to the pre-war year of 2021 and a 49% rise compared to 2023. How can IT professionals be trained to operate not only in corporate offices, but also in factories, production workshops, and digital control centres? Metinvest has identified the most successful participants of Steel Force, a new internship program for Ukrainian students pursuing higher education in the UK. Its goal is to provide young people with the opportunity to build a career in an international company, as well as to involve them in the implementation of projects for the reconstruction of Ukraine and the development of the domestic mining and metallurgical industry.During the first stage of Steel Force, 30 students from 16 British universities were united into teams that, with the support of mentors – Metinvest's managers of various levels – worked on real business cases of the company. A defender from Zaporizhcoke shared his experience of returning to civilian life. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, almost every fifth employee of Metinvest has joined the army. Currently, 959 veterans have returned to work at the company. The veteran adaptation ecosystem covers programmes of psychological support, rehabilitation, retraining, obtaining higher education, and preparing teams for the return of veterans. A war veteran and Zaporizhcoke worker Denys Savenkov is also taking the path from military to civilian life. Denys volunteered for the army in April 2022. He served in the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade "Zaporizhzhia Sich" in the Donetsk sector. "I was a gunner on an M777 howitzer. It is also called 'Three Axes' ‒ a powerful weapon. Everyone did their job well, but what matters most is that we did it effectively," recalls Denys.
