Zaporizhstal of Metinvest Group remains the traditional supplier of medical oxygen to hospitals in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk region.

The enterprise, starting from April 2021 and continuing to this day, has been supplying certified medical oxygen to healthcare facilities free of charge. Doctors say this oxygen saves many lives every day.
“We use oxygen in cases of respiratory failure, when organs are not sufficiently saturated with oxygen – this includes severe pneumonia, general anaesthesia with mechanical ventilation, and similar situations.” We have an extensive system that delivers oxygen throughout the hospital. There are numerous oxygen points, all standardised for sockets, which means we can provide oxygen therapy in every part of our hospital. Thanks to this, the quality of medical care and the treatment process improves significantly,” says acting medical director of the Zaporizhzhia hospital, Oleksandr VIEDIENIEIEV.
Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, oxygen supply volumes have significantly decreased due to logistical problems. However, since the beginning of this year, Zaporizhstal has delivered more than 580 tonnes of medical oxygen to healthcare facilities.
“At present, our facility’s need for oxygen ranges from half a tonne to one tonne. This is liquid oxygen, which then turns into a gaseous form. Before that, it comes to us in cryogenic cylinders, and Zaporizhstal provides this oxygen free of charge for the hospital’s operation, for which we are very grateful,” concludes Oleksandr Viedienieiev.
It is worth noting that, since 2021, oxygen produced by Zaporizhstal has been certified by the Ministry of Health as a medicinal product, as it meets strict requirements and can be used in medicine. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Zaporizhstal delivered oxygen free of charge to more than 100 hospitals across 17 regions of Ukraine.
