During a scheduled three-day shutdown, Northern GOK employees completed planned maintenance at the ore beneficiation plants (RZF-1, 2) and slurry pumping station No.1 (SPS-1). Kamet-Steel's Oxygen and Compressor Shop is in the process of upgrading its compressed air system, which will help power engineers improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption of the enterprise. The equipment modernisation project is being implemented at the site of compressed air production, which is required both to ensure the operation of the plant's iron and steel making divisions and to further produce oxygen for the plant's needs. The energy-saving measures primarily involve replacing the old K-1500 compressor with new SM6100 compressor equipment from Hanwha Power Systems, a South Korean company. Four modern compressors with the appropriate total capacity will ensure the optimization of the compressed air system, more flexibility in regulating the use of compressor capacities in optimal modes, and more rapid response to the real needs of the enterprise's subdivisions, i.e. operating in a more cost-effective mode.
