A new edition of the Energy Management Policy and Objectives for 2026 has been introduced at Metinvest’s Integrated iron Ore. The updated edition complies with the requirements of the international ISO 50001:2018 standard and is being implemented as part of Metinvest Group’s strategy.
The approved document is aimed at ensuring the continuous improvement of energy efficiency and reducing energy consumption across the structural units of the Northern, Central and Ingulets Iron Ore Plants.
The objectives regulate compliance with consumption standards and the rational use of energy resources by the shops and enterprises. They also provide for identifying opportunities and implementing measures to enhance energy performance. Particular attention is given to ensuring compliance with the requirements of current legislation, the ISO 50001:2018 international standard, as well as sector‑specific and other regulatory acts in the field of energy management.

“The Policy identifies the Iron Ore Plants as enterprises where energy efficiency is one of the key operational priorities,” noted Maksym STRILETS, Head of Energy Management Department at Metinvest’s Iron Ore Plants. “It ensures the fulfilment of planned production volumes while simultaneously achieving maximum energy efficiency, which is one of the core objectives of the energy policy. This includes the efficient use of energy resources (electricity, natural gas, heat, water, etc.), the application of renewable energy sources, the reuse of energy resources, the implementation of innovative technologies, as well as the development of automated systems for monitoring and managing energy resources at both shop and equipment levels.”
The energy management system applies to all areas of the enterprise’s operations, including raw material mining and processing, production of concentrate and pellets, as well as activities of contractor organisations. It is aimed at reducing the specific consumption of energy resources in the production of finished goods, ensuring the rational use of resources, minimising electricity losses during transmission, and increasing the use of renewable and secondary energy resources.
It is worth reminding that during the war and under constant restrictions on energy consumption, the management of Integrated Iron Ore systematically develops and implements projects aimed at energy independence. Our Iron Ore Plants already use gas-based electricity generation.
