Nataliia Skorodynska is the first woman at Kamet Steel to master the profession of a sinter operator

In the most difficult time for the company, the women of Kamet Steel continue the steel path - they perform important production tasks, destroy any gender barriers and master new professions that until recently were considered purely male. Probably, no one has heard of a feminine form of this profession yet. And Nataliia Skorodynska, an employee of the sinter shop, was the first among the women of the enterprise to master this difficult job.

Nataliia Skorodynska chose the sinter plant as her place of work on the advice of her friend Yevheniia Polishchuk. Four years have passed since the friends became colleagues – hot return dosing operators, and for two of which Nataliia has been a forewoman in her brigade. And although the team in the return cycle department is mostly female, such work cannot be called easy and simple. This is a great responsibility, first of all, for the quality of the sinter produced. Timely separation of the fine non-standard fraction from the finished sinter is one of the key tasks in order to avoid product shortages. And then the "fines" must be cooled and returned for recycling to the burden department. Skorodynska's team perfectly copes with these tasks and works in compliance with the set process parameters.

At the end of last year, under the training programme for Kamet Steel employees, the female employees of the sinter plant were offered to try themselves and master unusual professions for women. And again, both friends – Nataliia Skorodynska and Yevheniia Polishchuk – expressed a desire to master the job of a sinter operator as a second profession.

Active and determined, Nataliia was the first to complete her studies, and today she is already an intern at sintering machines, without ceasing to perform her main job duties. For six months, she did theoretical and practical training under the supervision of a senior sinter operator, an experienced training instructor Hryhoriy Lytovchenko. She studied the technical instructions and equipment, gained clear understanding of what the tasks and responsibilities of a sinter operator were, and successfully passed the final exam. She also completed training in labour safety.

The practice of training once again confirmed what a difficult and important job the newly-made sinter operator undertook. The area of responsibility is to fulfil production tasks and sinter quality, control carefully the parameters of devices, which display all diagrams of the equipment, and follow the technological process - temperature, humidity, uniformity of burden flow and its stacking on pallets, etc. And all this to be done in conditions of high temperatures, in heat-protected overalls.

Why did I decide to master a purely male, difficult profession? First of all, because in the wartime, men do different, not at all peaceful work. In our workshop, out of all four brigades, many guys joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they're defending Ukraine. And they expect understanding and support from us, their female colleagues. If they're there, someone has to do the work here. The workshop must continue to work, produce products, and perform the given tasks. If not us, then who? The first attempts to work under the supervision of an experienced mentor convinced me of the correctness of my decision, and although I am still an intern and am not ready for independent work, I already understand that I am interested in it. And in general, I have such a character – if I want, I'll succeed in it all.

Completing a difficult and stressful shift, Nataliia again becomes an ordinary sweet Ukrainian woman – a good hostess, a beloved wife and a loving mother of active twelve-year-old twins. But she takes a responsible approach not only to sintering, but also to baking delicious pies for all her boys. During the season, she enjoys visiting the pool with her sons, and in the summer their friendly family rests in the picturesque places of the Dnipro region. "If only there is a good reservoir nearby, we all like to swim," adds Nataliia Skorodynska with a smile.
