The incentive programme offers a number of benefits to the new generation of miners. For example, each employee, who graduated before 2022 and chose Metinvest as the first official job, receives a financial incentive of UAH 50 000. This initiative was created to support young people in realising their potential, increase their economic independence and attract young professionals to join the team of Metinvest.
"Engaging young people has always been a priority for us. We use a range of tools to do this: career guidance in educational institutions, various programs aimed at unlocking the potential of young employees, educational projects, and a system for new employee adaptation "The First Job" programme, in addition to financial incentives, also provides mentor support, mentoring at the workplace, social guarantees, etc." said Liudmyla SOLOD, Head of the Recruitment, Training and Staff Development Department at Metinvest's GOK.
So far, 49 new employees - participants of "The First Job" programme - have received their first incentive payments. These employees are graduates of vocational schools, colleges, technical schools and universities. This year, they joined the Iron Ore Enrichment Works as mechanics, drivers, electricians, crushers, and machine operators to operate various equipment in the open pit or on the railway.
"The first job is a serious choice that determines a young person's further intention to develop in the profession they have chosen. Amid the manpower shortages due to mobilisation, emigration and other factors, we create a favourable environment for attracting and retaining young professionals: salary level, social guarantees, additional incentives, practical experience, gradual professional development, educational programmes, etc. This is an environment where our young people have the opportunity to realize their abilities and professional ambitions," said Andrii SHCHERBAK, Director of Human Resources and Social Affairs at Metinvest's GOK.
"The First Job" programme is currently available for all vacancies for workers, managers, professionals and specialists.
