As part of its cooperation with the PULSE charitable foundation, Metinvest Group has allocated almost UAH5 million for the development of tactical medicine in Ukraine.
Amid the full-scale invasion, Ukraine receives strong support from various countries around the world that have categorically denounced the Russian Federation’s aggression. Ukrainians themselves have united even more in collective defence against the enemy. In particular, Metinvest supports the PULSE charitable foundation, which was established at the beginning of the war. Among other things, the foundation’s instructors train the Ukrainian military in tactical medicine. To provide the material and technical base for the training, Metinvest has allocated almost UAH5 million as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative.
During his speech at the War and Disaster Medicine Conference 2022, an annual military medical conference held by NATO members, PULSE founder Fedir Serdiuk shared with the international community how tactical medicine is developing in Ukraine amid the full-scale war. Among other things, it has been advanced through the support of private business. The purpose of PULSE’s training is not just to develop basic skills for battlefield self-care and mutual aid, but also to bring the training system of the Ukrainian military into compliance with the US Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) protocol.

The War and Disaster Medicine Conference has been held for over 15 years. It brings together officers and officials from different countries responsible for personnel and medical training, procurement and medical planning. At the end of 2022, the event was held in Tartu, Estonia.
“We have been actively communicating with the originators of the TCCC system, the US military and NATO. From a medical point of view, the system is constantly improving; relevant studies and experience-sharing sessions are conducted for this purpose. But Ukraine’s experience is unique when it comes to the organisational side of things. We have conducted a massive mobilisation, so the number of people to be trained and equipped is unheard of. PULSE alone has trained more people since the beginning of the war than the number of people who serve in the regular armed forces of individual NATO countries, such as Estonia. That is why our organisational, methodological and managerial experience is interesting. This is our contribution to the improvement of the TCCC and medical capabilities of Ukraine’s allies,” said Fedir Serdiuk, founder of the PULSE charitable foundation.

“For Metinvest Group, life and health have always been the main values, so during the war, our care for Ukrainians has gone far beyond the industrial sites. Amid the full-scale war, we support initiatives aimed at saving the lives of Ukraine’s defenders fighting on the front line. Cooperation with the PULSE charitable foundation, which trains the military in tactical medicine, is one such initiative. Metinvest will continue to be a pillar of strength for the country’s defenders and will do everything in its power to bring the victory closer,” said Yuriy Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group.
As a reminder, Metinvest has also organised first aid training for employees of its enterprises. So far, more than 2,000 employees from Zaporizhzhia, Kamianske, Kryvyi Rih, Pokrovsk and Kyiv have been trained by professional instructors.
