The goal is to unite people with different war experiences into a reliable team, overcome barriers to strong teamwork, and combine personal needs and values with the ones of the enterprise and the company. To teach line managers how to deal with such difficult challenges, Kamet-Steel has implemented the Leadership in Time of War training programme introduced by Metinvest Group.
The Supportive Leadership Development Programme for line managers is issued to answer to the most critical issues that arise in work teams under the influence of war. One of the most important is to support military veterans returning to civilian life and work, to integrate them effectively into the team, and to strengthen the team through the practical experience and skills of veterans. It is necessary to remain a responsible leader in order to build communications with employees, including those mobilised and internally displaced employees who have experienced the traumatic experience of war. You also need to know how to help employees who have acute psycho-emotional state.
The four-week classes are held remotely on the Microsoft Teams platform, and the programme consists of a motivational engagement webinar and three thematic modules, during which participants can listen to experienced speakers – accredited coaches and military psychologists – who will advise on effective algorithms for not only resolving conflict situations but also building effective working relationships with employees who have experienced the horrors of war. The training is also accompanied by support on Telegram: additional materials to the modules on the information channel, records of meetings, testing, practical tasks, and a display of personal progress in the programme – in your personal account.
The training ends with a unique practical workshop that will help accumulate the knowledge and practices gained during the programme and turn them into a code of conduct – a clear list of actions for easy and effective use in everyday life.
"Today, leadership in a team that includes demobilised veterans, internally displaced people, and relatives of mobilised workers is, first of all, the ability to effectively interact with people, each of whom has their own personal experience of war. Therefore, I expect from this training programme to get new knowledge and important recommendations on how to properly build interaction with the colleagues in my team in order to avoid interpersonal barriers and psycho-emotional aggravations that can interfere with the effective work of the business unit. An important advantage of this programme is webinars from military psychologists with personal experience of war. I am especially looking forward to practical classes that will help me learn how to apply the acquired knowledge in my work. I am sure that after completing the training, each participant will choose their own case, their own set of tools, which will help them maintain a stable and productive atmosphere in the team to achieve effective team results," Pavlo DURDA, production foreman of the rolling shop.
