Metinvest, on behalf of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front initiative, has delivered a mobile laboratory to the Azov Brigade of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine for the diagnostics, testing and repair of military vehicle fuel systems.

The facility will enable maintenance units to operate directly in field conditions, allowing military equipment to be repaired and returned to service more quickly. This is particularly important for units carrying out combat missions on the front line, where the operational readiness of transport vehicles and armoured equipment has a direct impact on mobility, logistics and overall military effectiveness. 

The mobile laboratory has been built within a reinforced, fully welded container equipped with thermal and acoustic insulation. It is equipped with autonomous utility systems, a 15 kW generator, test benches, specialised tools, and equipment designed for servicing fuel systems from a range of manufacturers. The complex also includes a mobile hangar, enabling maintenance and repair work to be carried out regardless of weather conditions. 

“For those on the front line, it is not only the delivery of equipment that matters, but also the ability to return it to service as quickly as possible. The mobile laboratory provided to the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov Brigade gives repair units greater autonomy, enabling diagnostics and a range of complex repairs to be carried out closer to the areas where combat missions are being conducted. This saves time, reduces the burden on logistics, and directly enhances the unit’s operational effectiveness,” said Oleksandr VODOVIZ, Head of the CEO’s Project Office at Metinvest. 

Representatives of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov Brigade emphasise that this support has tangible practical value for the day-to-day work of their repair units. 

“In combat conditions, equipment operates at the limits of its capabilities, and every breakdown has the potential to jeopardise a mission. Such a laboratory will enable us to identify fuel system issues more quickly and carry out testing and repairs without the need to send vehicles to rear-area facilities for extended periods. For us, this means less equipment downtime and more vehicles available to carry out their duties where they are needed most,” said a serviceman of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine’s Azov Brigade. 

Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Metinvest has been providing systematic support to Ukraine’s Defence Forces through Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front military initiative. The company supplies the military with equipment, drones, communications systems, vehicles and engineering assets, while also developing and manufacturing its own solutions for the front line, including steel shelters, command posts, mine-clearing ploughs and protective screens for armoured vehicles.
