Business process reshuffle at the consolidated ore mining and processing plant (GZK) has freed some members of the Ingulets GZK team, offering them spots at other Metinvest businesses, mostly other GZKs.
In July, 100+ Ingulets GZK employees of various occupation used this opportunity and moved to other enterprises, while retaining their salaries and benefits and now receiving an additional bonus for rotation. The workflow transformation at three mining and processing plants was prompted by reduced loads at Ingulets GZK due to significant power supply limitations, increased costs because of forced electricity imports, and high cost of ore concentrate production. In current conditions, this lowered the plant’s output.
Meanwhile, the mining and processing divisions of Northern and Central GZKs continue to operate steadily, largely due to the lower production cost of iron ore. However, a shortage of workers has emerged as many employees have been mobilised into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To address this, skilled miners from Ingulets GZK have stepped in to support the overworked shops at neighbouring enterprises. They are now applying their expertise in various areas, including railway and mining transport workshops at Northern GZK, as well as in the crushing, processing, sludge management and technical energy supply workshops at Central GZK.
“For most people, financial stability is crucial, and knowing this, we’ve ensured that Ingulets GZK employees can maintain their income at a reasonable level. We’ve also provided those who are now working at other plants with additional rotation bonuses and organised transportation to their new workplaces. Despite the challenges, we’re doing everything we can to support our employees, giving them a sense of security about the future. At their new locations, Ingulets GZK employees have all required conditions for effective work and further professional development,” said Director for HR and Social Affairs of Metinvest Group Mining Division Andriy SCHRBAK.
