In today’s rapidly evolving world, where new technologies are being rapidly adopted across all industrial sectors, major steel producers like Kametstal face the constant challenge of modernising their operations. The collaborative efforts of the Capital Construction and Investment Directorate are the driving force behind these developments and technical upgrades. On 11 August, they celebrate their professional holiday, Ukraine’s Builder’s Day.
This team of specialists is responsible for the development and implementation of investment projects, overseeing construction, and ensuring the quality of completed work. Their duties include planning and budgeting for each project, obtaining the necessary permits, passing inspections, coordinating with contractors, and approving estimates and documentation. Step by step, these professionals are modernising and shaping the future of our enterprise. In this multifaceted process, everyone understands their role and the importance of their contribution to the overall success.
Even in the challenging conditions of wartime, Kametstal continues to upgrade its production capacities and technologies. Over the past 12 months, nearly 80 investment projects have been implemented. Each project presented its own challenges, which the dedicated team approached with enthusiasm and determination. As a result, the capital investment programme has been successfully executed in full.
According to Oleksii Tokii, Director of Capital Construction and Investment, the investment programme for 2023-2024 is primarily focused on ensuring stable production and reliable energy supplies.
Among the successful projects is the replacement of the No. 4 coal-loading wagon for Coke Battery No.5, aimed at increasing equipment reliability and minimising risks of reduced coke production. Another significant achievement was the early completion of the modernisation of the first three streams of CCM-2, including the replacement of the drive frequency converters. Currently, a contract is being finalized to extend this project to the remaining three streams with the introduction of a new control system. Additionally, the reconstruction of the benzene unit building has been completed as part of a broader initiative to restore the plant’s facilities.
