Metinvest's Promet Steel plant in Bulgaria continues to take care of internally displaced people from Ukraine, especially children, trying to give them the joys of childhood.
Last year, with the support of the enterprise, Ukrainian children visited the Varna Dolphinarium and the main fire station in Burgas, and studied physical phenomena at the PlanetUm science centre.
Promet Steel's new focus was to help a children's workshop organised at the premises of the Dobro HUB volunteer centre in Sveti Vlas. 35 children aged 8 to 14 are already studying here. Classes are led by a former electrician from Odesa region.
Having already implemented several joint projects with Promet Steel, Dobro HUB's management approached Metinvest's enterprise to help expand the club's toolkit to make it as interesting as possible.
And the action was suited to the word! The club was quickly provided with materials for cut-outs, fretsaws and saws, as well as fibreboard and plywood, screwdrivers, nippers, pliers, and various electrical devices, such as sockets, electrical cables and plugs, lamp holders and others.
Now the children are making cut-outs, learning the intricacies of working with a fretsaw, learning how to use pliers and an electrician's screwdriver correctly, and removing electrical insulation from a cable using their knowledge in electrical work.
And recently, under the guidance of their teacher, the children made electric extension cords with their own hands, which, after a thorough inspection by the club leader, they were able to take with them. One would think, what could be easier? Here's a cable, here's a socket with a plug - connect them, and Bob's your uncle. However, in this work, it is necessary to comply with electrical safety requirements, choose the right tool and calculate the cable size, and pay attention to dozens of different nuances.
"Today, adults should provide maximum support to children, lend them a strong shoulder. And we will continue to do so in the future. It is important for boys and girls to experience all the joys of childhood, to learn new things, to learn to create rather than destroy. And classes in the club are a good way to gain the necessary skills, meet new friends, and have a laugh in good company," said Dmytro ZAKHARCHENKO, Executive Director of Promet Steel.
