Always on top: crane operators are being trained at Zaporizhstal

At Zaporizhstal, an educational course is underway for employees who have expressed a desire to master the profession of a crane operator. The third group consists of 11 Zaporizhstal employees, who are currently undergoing training at a special training ground.

In general, crane operators are trained for about four months. First, a two-week theoretical course with licensed teachers of the plant. Then the skills are practised with them at the training ground in the cold rolling shop. And after that, the most crucial stage begins – a three-month practice with an instructor directly at the production site.

The training period is paid, and official employment and a social package in the new position after training are guaranteed.

Mainly newcomers are taught here – those who have just joined the team of the plant. However, there are also experienced metallurgists among the "students". For example, Oleksandr RAKYTOV. The man has about two years of work as a slag worker in the drop-hammer shop.

"It's never too late to learn and change something. Therefore, when I have learned about the opportunity to master a second profession, I immediately agreed. In addition, working in this occupation will help me increase my income. For me, the training is not difficult, because I already know the production process well. And my colleagues give me practical advice and help in learning," says Oleksandr.
