"‘I always loved my job and felt like I was part of something big and important"

Petro Stefanenko is an electrician of the Zaporizhstal mold train preparation shop, devoted 43 years to work at his native plant. This year, he became one of the first to receive an honorary corporate award – “Corypheus of Metinvest”.

"I came to the plant when I was very young," Petro Mykhailovych recalls. "I started my journey in the open-hearth shop. I remember how I worked as an electrician on duty, then as a team head, as a foreman of the electrical function. Every day was filled with new challenges, but also with new knowledge. Gradually, with experience, I moved to the mold train preparation shop for the position of shop electrician."

Petro STEFANENKO was actively involved in the modernization of equipment, he offered ideas to improve the efficiency and reliability of power grids and save electricity.

"I always believed that work should be done in such a way that later it would be calm for myself. To know that everything has been done conscientiously. After all, the common result depends on our work. This approach helped me to always meet deadlines and be confident in my work," Petro Mykhailovych shares.

Many workers can call him their mentor, because he taught the intricacies of professions to more than a dozen metallurgists.

But Petro Stefanenko is not only a good specialist, but also a sympathetic person who has always helped colleagues. Petro Mykhailovych was repeatedly elected chairman of the shop committee of the subdivision. Everyone in the shop knew if you contact him for any question, he will help you solve everything quickly.

For his merits, Petro Mikhailovich was awarded the Certificate of Honor of Zaporizhstal, as well as medals "For Inspired Work" and "For Personal Contribution to the Development of the City of Zaporizhzhia». This year, the company awarded the pensioner with a new corporate award – "Corypheus of Metinvest".

Having gone on a well-deserved rest, Petro Stefanenko did not stop his participation in the life of the plant. Corypheus himself initiates and joins volunteer events of Zaporizhstal pensioners' activists, particularly those aimed at supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

At the plant, his experience is still appreciated: Petro Mykhailovych willingly advises electricians of the mold train preparation shop on the maintenance of electrical equipment and technological processes.

"Every working day at the plant was special for me. I always went to work with pleasure because I loved my job and felt like I was part of a big, important deed. And now, when former colleagues call for advice, I am always happy to help. It's nice that my experience is appreciated, and I can pass it on to the new generation," adds Petro Mykhailovych.
