A 48th scientific and technical youth conference took place in Zaporizhzhia. The event was organised by the youth of Zaporizhstal and Metinvest Polytechnic, the first non-governmental technical university. The 55 participants presented their innovative solutions aimed at enhancing production efficiency.
Young specialists of Metinvest's enterprises competed for the title of best in three sections: "Engineering", "Health and Safety", "Technology and Quality". The students, who shared their views of enhancing efficiency of production process in the separate section of student projects, also participated in the conference. Young specialists and future industrial workers presented their own researches and innovation to other members of expert commissions, including experienced metallurgists and enterprise managers of different levels.
Among 55 participants of the conference are representatives of Zaporizhstal and Motor Sich, students of Zaporizhzhia universities and Metinvest Polytechnic.
The winner of the "Engineering" section was Dmytro RASTORHUIEV, an electrician in the blast furnace shop at Zaporizhstal. He presented a project to improve the efficiency of ore grab loaders. In the "Health and Safety" section, Oleksii NOVODARSKYI, an area operator, received the highest evaluation for his development of enhanced labor safety requirements and safety measures during the movement of car electric pushers with AI control. In the "Technology and Quality" section, Volodymyr MAKARENKO, a process engineer at the Steelworks' Product Testing and Certification Centre, proposed the best idea for a new technology for producing tin plates in the cold rolling shop. Among the students, Ihor STEBELKO was the winner. A student from Metinvest Polytechnic, he developed an automation project for dosing processes and pelletizing on induration machines.
According to the conference results, participants who presented the best ideas and took prize places were recognised with awards. The most effective projects will be implemented in production.
As a reminder, Zaporizhstal has been holding science and technology conferences and forums for young professionals since 1973. During this time the participants presented more than 21,000 innovations and research papers, many of which were implemented at metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Over the years, more than 25,500 employees of mining and metals companies in Ukraine and abroad have participated in the conferences.
