Defenders Received About 150 Mobile Buggy Vehicles with the Support of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front

A new batch of buggy vehicles manufactured from Metinvest-SMC steel products has been sent to the front line. In total, as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front initiative, Ukrainian soldiers received 149 mobile vehicles free of charge.

At the request of the Southern Operational Command, Metinvest-SMC began shipping its steel products back in the beginning of 2023. Back then, 3.8 tonnes of rolled products were required to produce a first batch of ten buggy vehicles. The last batch – 24 units – was delivered to the front line this summer.

Such mobile vehicle for small combat teams plays an important role in the performance of combat missions by our defenders at the front line. The buggies are able to traverse off-road quickly and help the military in conducting reconnaissance and launching rapid strikes against the enemy.

"Advantage on the front line largely depends on the availability of effective equipment, including fast, maneuverable, simple, and reliable mini-vehicles. Recognizing this need of Ukrainian soldiers, over a year ago, we started cooperating with the Southern Operational Command and shipping our steel for the production of buggies. This work is still ongoing. Its best assessment is the feedback from soldiers who are grateful for the steel companions that have proven themselves in combat," noted Oleksandr PALAMARCHUK, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest-SMC.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the production of a wide range of steel products for the needs of the soldiers has been established as part of Rinat Akhmetov Steel Front military initiative. In particular, Metinvest’s steel products are used to manufacture protective screens against FPV drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are mounted on tanks, protecting both equipment and the lives of the defenders.
