Teatro Duse in Genoa hosted “Mariupol Drama”, a theatrical project based on the testimonies of actors who survived the siege of Mariupol and the bombing of the Mariupol Drama Theatre in March 2022.
Metinvest Trametal supported the initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility commitment.
The event was held in the context of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and gathered around 400 attendees, including representatives of regional and municipal authorities, members of the Ukrainian diplomatic community, the Ukrainian community in Liguria, and employees of Metinvest’s Italian assets with their families. The evening concluded with a standing ovation.
The performance followed a press conference at Regione Liguria with the participation of regional and city officials, representatives of the Pokrova Association, Ukrainian diplomats, and Metinvest Trametal. The initiative was presented as a cultural and civic event aimed at preserving historical memory and supporting Ukrainian communities abroad.
“Mariupol Drama” is touring the EU and the UK under the coordination of the Pokrova Association, which raises funds for Ukrainian schools abroad. Proceeds from the Liguria performances support educational continuity for Ukrainian children living outside Ukraine.

The Heart of Azovstal, the charitable initiative of Rinat Akhmetov, was also present at the event. The project continues to support defenders who returned from captivity and to advocate for the release of those who remain imprisoned.
For Metinvest, the initiative carries particular significance. Mariupol was home to Azovstal and Ilyich Iron & Steel Works, long-standing suppliers of steel products to European markets, including Italy. The events of 2022 had a direct impact on people, industrial cooperation and supply chains.
Through its presence in Genoa as the European headquarters of the Group, Metinvest remains committed to responsible engagement with the communities in which it operates and to supporting initiatives that preserve memory and cultural identity.
