Dear friends,

Today, first and foremost, I would like to say thank you.

The work of a miner has never been easy. But for thirteen years now, you have been working under the conditions of war, living with constant concern for your loved ones and facing new risks and challenges.

The enemy is doing everything possible to leave our homes without light and heat. Therefore, every mine that remains in operation and every tonne of coal extracted is a contribution not only to the economy, but also to Ukraine’s energy resilience. It is what brings light and warmth to Ukrainians’ homes.

I know for certain that behind your work stand not only professionalism and experience. Behind it lies strength of character. The true character of a miner is not measured by words. This is what you prove every day through your actions. It is responsibility for one’s work and for the people alongside you. The willingness to keep working despite all the challenges, for the sake of your families and your country. 

I thank each and every one of you for your work and for every shift you have worked. For your determination in the face of challenges. For helping Ukraine endure.

We bow our heads in gratitude to your colleagues who are today defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are proud of them and look forward to their return home.

Special words of thanks go to our veterans who, after completing their service, return to their teams and continue their work. Thank you for your resilience and for ensuring that your experience and knowledge remain an important part of our shared work.

I would also like to thank the women who, during the years of war, have mastered new professions and taken on important and demanding work in the mines. This deserves the utmost respect.

I wish you safe shifts and good health. May your loved ones always be by your side. May those who are waiting for their loved ones to return from the front see them come home as soon as possible. And may Ukraine achieve a just and lasting peace.
