Zaporizhstal volunteers made gifts to defenders and children for New Year holidays

Zaporizhstal employees make wishes of little Ukrainians and defenders of Ukraine come true throughout the year. For their favourite winter holidays, they also, like good magicians, created miracles for the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and children.

Drone for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Serhii Grybovodov – is a gasman at blast furnace No. 4 at Zaporizhstal. One of Serhii's tasks at the workplace is to maintain the heating process of the blast furnace's air heaters. Sergiy volunteers at the call of his heart whenever there is such an opportunity. Among his contributions to the approaching victory of Ukraine is his hard work and dedication to the work he does. Furthermore, Serhii recently raised funds and bought a drone for a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk direction.

– Today my childhood friend is defending our country near Bakhmut, it was him who told me that the unit needs a drone. So I appealed to all concerned people, who`s able ta donate. Together, we managed to raise the necessary amount of money and purchase the drone, – says Serhii. – This device will help our defenders to perform combat missions and reconnaissance more effectively. May this be a small help from me, from all of us, but important one and necessary.

Volunteers of the youth organization of the works joined to help and collected for the soldiers the necessary products and goodies for the holidays. Serhii personally delivered the drone and gifts from the youth organization to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

– This is the least we can do today for those people, thanks to whom we live, work, have the right to choose, – Serhii added. – May each of the defenders return home alive and healthy – this is our wish on New Year's Eve.

For children of heroes

Maxim Cherniavskyi, metal heater of the Hot Rolling Shop, is an experienced wizard. Every year, before New Year holidays, he turns into Santa Claus and together with his helpers visits children of Zaporizhstal employees with warm greetings. This year, Maxim, who is actively engaged in volunteer activities, again put on a costume of a fairy-tale character. Apart from the children of the works' employees, this year he also congratulated the children of heroes, who are now defending the independence of the country, fighting for a bright future for Ukraine. Unfortunately, some of these children will never see their courageous parents, the heavenly heroes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with Maksim, our colleagues,  – blast furnace operator Alexey Mashchenko, Evgeny Elmendeiev from the Cold Rolling Shop and Petro Kozlov from Metinvest Promservice, have organized a fairy tale for the children.

– We faced the most difficult trials, dark, terrible times. Ukrainian children were cynically and cruelly deprived of their childhood. We, adults, must do everything to give children, who have suffered so much, faith in miracles, faith in the victory of good over evil, – Maxim says. – A child's smile is the greatest reward for me. That is why this year we visited the children to support them and give them a fairy tale.

Christmas Gifts

Oleksii Mashchenko, a blast-furnace operator, has joined a team of volunteers from the first days of the full-scale war. To the bright holiday of Christmas, he and his team personally delivered 30 pairs of rubber boots, high-quality cast-iron stoves, trench candles and  medical supplies, including medicines for seasonal diseases, to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

– Among the soldiers in the Zaporizhzhya direction there are many of my colleagues-blast-furnace operators. We are constantly in touch to provide the guys with everything they need.   Winter is a difficult time for all of us. Therefore, before Christmas, we made sure that our defenders were warm and could take care of their own immunity, – Oleksii said. – Cast-iron stoves and boots were made by volunteers of the city and handed over free of charge.

Before the New Year holidays, volunteers also visited Huliaipole and handed over to civilians 800 humanitarian kits, collected thanks to partner non-governmental organizations and local activists. They also visited a military hospital and delivered small gifts to our heroes on the occasion of Christmas and New Year, thanking the defenders for their courage and unshakable principles.
