International experience, modern technologies and global trends in manufacturing processes – all of this becomes accessible to Metinvest Polytechnic students whilst they are still studying. Internships at leading European engineering schools and participation in international scientific conferences allow students not only to master theory, but also to see how modern industry operates on a global scale, preparing them for careers that are valued worldwide.
Last summer, university students undertook an internship in collaboration with the Danieli Academy – one of Europe’s leading centres for training engineers in the metallurgical sector. Such an experience is not just about practical training, but about understanding how the global industry operates and what demands it places on young professionals.
The next step was to strengthen international scientific cooperation. Recently, the university’s researchers took part in the international conference ‘Water as a Profession: From Space to Network – Technologies for Those Who Envision the Future’, held at the Benedetto Castelli Technical Institute (Italy).
Metinvest Polytechnic was invited to participate by its international partners – the Italian company Mill’s. The event brought together experts, business representatives and educators from various countries, who are working in the fields of water cycle management, infrastructure and technology. The discussion focused on the current challenges and solutions that are already shaping the development of the sector worldwide.
The conference was aimed not only at sharing expertise but also at attracting young people to careers related to water resources – through an understanding of new approaches, technologies and techniques for their application in a global context. The event took place as part of the Metal Hab initiative, supported by the Brescia Chamber of Commerce and Sideridraulic and Banca Valsabbina.

Participation in the conference yielded the latest information on the use and protection of water resources, which will be utilised in the training of Metinvest Polytechnic students on the educational programmes ‘Environmental Protection Technologies in the Urban-Industrial Complex’, ‘Mineral Processing’, ‘Innovative Technologies and Environmental Protection Systems’, and ‘Environmental Protection Activities’.
One specific outcome of this international collaboration was an agreement to hold a scientific and technical seminar involving university lecturers, students and Alain Gache, an engineer and researcher specialising in mining technologies and water resource protection. He is also the president and founder of the Gache Foundation, which supports research in these fields.
Volodymyr PASHYNSKYI, a professor at Ukraine’s first private mining and metallurgical university, noted:
"International cooperation today is not merely an exchange of experience, but a necessary condition for the high-quality training of specialists. Participation in such events allows us to stay abreast of global changes, understand modern approaches to water resource management, and integrate this knowledge into the educational process. What is particularly valuable is that we are not only engaging in professional discussions but also building lasting academic ties. The agreement to hold a joint seminar with international experts opens up new opportunities for both lecturers and students. For our educational programmes, this means one thing: relevance and therefore demand in the labour market. We are training specialists who will work with modern technologies and solutions that are already shaping the future of industry and environmental safety.
For Metinvest Polytechnic, expanding international cooperation offers students the opportunity to study within the context of global changes, work with up-to-date knowledge and build a career in a global professional environment.
