Heroes do not die while we cherish memory of them in our hearts and show respect in our deeds.

In peacetime, Volodymyr Moskovets from Zaporizhzhia worked as a refractory specialist at Zaporizhvognetryv, and together with his beloved wife Daria raised a son Oleksii. He was interested in old-style cars. Volodymyr built plans for the future, dreaming about another child, his own house, and travel. His dreams and the joyful future of his family with arms.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Volodymyr volunteered to defend Ukraine.
"He headed to the military office on 26 February 2022. He said that he was going to the front so that the front would not come to us, to his family, to his home. No matter how much I tried to dissuade him, but he firmly decided because he could not act differently. I respect his choice and I am very proud of my hero," said Daria MOSKOVETS, Volodymyr's wife.

Initially, Volodymyr served in the National Guard unit 3033 of Ukraine, and later he transferred to military unit 3029, where he served as a rifleman.
Throughout his service, not only his family supported him, but also colleagues from the enterprise.
"Although Volodymyr worked with us at Zaporizhvognetryv for not very long, he proved himself to be a very responsible and hard-working specialist. He did his job well and was very dedicated to his work. Volodymyr was deployed to a very important and difficult section, in the hot repair of steel ladles and chutes. When he decided to mobilise, our team supported him and helped with all the necessary equipment. We maintained contact with him and his family. We remain alongside even now," said Maksym PYLYPENKO, section chief at Zaporizhvognetryv and Volodymyr's colleague.
In spring 2023, Volodymyr joined the 15th assault brigade in the "Kara-Dag" separate sapper platoon. He successfully completed the sapper training course abroad, and then returned to Ukraine and continued to defend the Zaporizhzhia direction of the front with his new speciality.
"One of his most prominent features is his acute sense of justice. From childhood he was brave and bold, protected the weak, and always stood up for his values. He always acted justly and had no tendency towards lies, quarrels, or treachery. He was a true man and a worthy example for his son," said the defender's wife.
Following the same principles, Volodymyr raised his son Oleksii.
"He so wanted to live in a free country and wanted our son to grow up free from wars, deaths, so that he would never see this suffering. I think, the only reason that drove him forward throughout his entire service was our son. So that our son could have a peaceful future, childhood, tranquillity, and a happy life," recalled Daria.
The soldier Volodymyr Moskovets, with the call sign "Voha," died on 24 August 2023 near the village of Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhia region. During the execution of a military assignment, he was blown up by a tripwire and sustained severe injuries, but had a chance to survive. The enemy was treacherous and shelled the area where Volodymyr was located, using tube artillery. The defender died from his injuries at the age of 29.
For personal courage and bravery, selfless actions demonstrated in defending Ukraine's state interests, he was awarded the "For Military Service to Ukraine" medal posthumously.
"According to his commander, Volodymyr fought his last battle bravely. He did not give up, fought to the last, and died with dignity. For everything he believed in, for all of us. Despite the tremendous pain and sadness for my husband, I am very proud of him, I am proud to be his wife and the mother of his son. A part of him continues to live in our son. I often tell him about his father, because I want our son to be just as proud of his father. We love our defender. He will forever live in our hearts and memory!" shared Daria Moskovets.
Volodymyr was buried in the Alley of Glory at the Kushugum cemetery near Zaporizhzhia. Recently, his name was also immortalised on the "Tree of Memory" memorial; it is engraved on one of the steel bells that chime in the wind.
"He was not only a committed defender of Ukraine, but also a loving husband, the best father, a caring son, and a reliable friend. His life is an example of courage, and our memory of him will be our strength. He will always live in our hearts and memory. He will be our guide through life and a guardian angel for our little son. Heroes do not die!" added Daria.
