Metinvest continues to support the Petrivka Region even during the war. Within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation and under the coordination of the Kryvyi Rih Foundation of the Future, a number of projects are being implemented on the territory of the Petrivka community to strengthen the safety of the residents.
"During the war, it is important to continue the educational process, to help teachers and children who receive education in such difficult times. Therefore, with the support of Metinvest Iron Ore, last year we began arranging a shelter in the Petrivka Lyceum and continue our work. Upon completion, about 650 students and teachers will be able to conduct teaching and useful leisure in modern and safe conditions. In total, the company allocated UAH 5.5 million for the implementation of the project," said Igor TONEV, Metinvest Iron Ore General Director.
Currently, there are 13 schools and 17 preschool institutions in the Petrivka region. The key condition for work is the availability of shelters. According to the director of the Petrovsky Lyceum Alla Vetrova, more than half a thousand students study from the fifth to the eleventh grade in the institution headed by her. Due to the lack of shelter, children have to acquire knowledge in a mixed format. Currently, in the basement of the lyceum, the arrangement of the shelter with an area of 1000 m2 continues. The purchase of building materials and equipment, as well as repair work, is carried out with the financial support of Metinvest.

"It was an ordinary low basement with utilities, the age of which was equal to the age of the institution. We started with the removal of soil, and there was a lot of it. Today, all the "utensils" have been replaced here, communications have been brought in accordance with sanitary standards, all are hidden so that children are safe here. Currently, rooms are being made here, in which classes will be located. A modern ventilation system is installed here, which will create the proper temperature and air conditions," said Alla VETROVA, Director of the Petrovsky Lyceum.
Now the final stage of large-scale work is underway at the facility. Sewerage and water supply have already been replaced, heating systems and electrical networks have been installed. The shelter will meet all safety requirements. There will be several ways out. One is with an elevator for the convenience of children with special educational needs. The implementation of this project is being coordinated at all stages by the NGO "Kryvyi Rih Foundation of the Future".
"We live in difficult times, but we have to adapt to our new reality. Teachers should teach, and children should receive education in order to become worthy Ukrainians and support our state both on the way to victory and during reconstruction," says Olena LESHCHENKO, Director of the NGO "Kryvyi Rih Foundation of the Future".
Representatives of the educational institution note that this project is extremely important for their community. This is a guarantee of the safety of children and teachers and the peace of mind of parents.
