Medicine from “Saving Lives” Humanitarian Project Arrives in Ukraine

The “Saving Lives” humanitarian project was created by Metinvest Group and DTEK, the largest SCM businesses, in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. It is expanding the range of assistance that it provides: in addition to food, it will now deliver medicine and consumables to hospitals in Ukraine. To date, the project has already provided EUR238,000 in assistance to medical institutions in the country

While our army is bringing the victory of Ukraine closer, socially responsible businesses are doing everything in their power to sustain a strong home front: supporting the country’s economy and caring for its citizens. The “Saving Lives” humanitarian project began as an initiative of Metinvest Group and DTEK, in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. Its initial purpose was to provide food and essentials to those affected by the war. However, it quickly became clear that this powerful project and the logistics network that it has developed is able to support the medical industry, as well. After all, hospitals are now working at the brink of capacity, providing assistance to wounded defenders and civilians.

Recently, Ukrainian doctors received drugs and consumables from the humanitarian project. The first batch from “Saving Lives” was provided to medical institutions in Zaporizhzhia and Kamianske, because now these cities have become centres receiving refugees and victims from the regions of active hostilities. Thousands of catheters, intravenous cannulas, syringes, blood transfusion systems and gloves were handed over to the Zaporizhzhia military hospital and the City Emergency Hospital of Kamianske. Also, a cargo of nylon and silk surgical threads, haemostatic materials and so on has already been sent to Ukraine from a warehouse in Poland.

The “Saving Lives” humanitarian project will expand the supply of drugs and medicines. For example, it is now purchasing multivitamins for adults and children.

“The strength of Ukraine is in its unity. This is proved every day by millions of ordinary citizens who are trying to support our country. This is proved daily by businesses that direct their resources to humanitarian or defence projects. From the first day of the war, Metinvest Group found itself at the epicentre of helping injured Ukrainians, doctors, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defence Forces. Wherever there is a daily struggle for human lives, we are there: in hospitals, on the front line and in refugee assistance centres. Because this is how we can survive and win,” said Yuriy RYZHENKOV, CEO of Metinvest Group.

As a reminder, the “Saving Lives” Humanitarian Project provides major ongoing assistance to Ukraine, including food and essentials. For this, two hubs have been set up in Poland. Bulk cargoes are collected, sorted and prepared for shipment there. In coordination with the government of our country, they are delivered to cities and regions where this support is most needed. Also, financial assistance goes to the “Do It Together” charitable foundation, which was also joined by Metinvest Group employees.

Since the launch of the humanitarian project, more than 40,000 people have already received assistance, including food, essential goods and medicines for hospitals. For more information about “Saving Lives”, visit the official website: https://bit.ly/SavingLivesProject.
