A team of Metinvest Polytechnic students called "Inventors" achieved two prize-winning places in the finale of the all-Ukrainian case challenge "Plant Games," organised by the UGEN platform. The competition brought together 56 of the best student teams from all over the country, and the representatives of Metinvest Polytechnic showed the best results, taking first and second places.
Beside the "Inventors," another team called "Steel Brains" represented the university, which entered the TOP 20. The performance of both teams serves as proof of the high-quality engineering education and motivation of the mining and metallurgical university's students.
Two cases – two awards
1st place: the case for MHP company, dedicated to modernising the Vinnytsia poultry farm's power supply system. The students offered an integrated solution with a microgrid, backup power sources, automated control, and a 3D model of the system. Due to the project, the enterprise could potentially avoid production shutdowns and losses worth hundreds of millions of UAH.
2nd place: the case for BAT Ukraine company, aimed at improving production efficiency. The focus was on digitalising technical maintenance accounting, optimising the microclimate, changing consumables, and adapting personnel. The calculated saving is nearly UAH 1 million per month.
"The strength of the team lies in motivation, the university's support, and teamwork," was the view held by the winners of the intellectual competition.

Daniil TYMOSHENKO
team captain
"We did not just solve theoretical problems, we created solutions that can be implemented right now. Hours-long sessions, modelling, and critical analysis all yielded results. A big thank to our teachers, who taught us to think and act. This success became possible due to our team, which knows how to communicate, support each other, and is not afraid to take responsibility."

Ruslan KRIUKOV
student
"It was a real engineering battle. We were working with real business tasks, finding solution under constraints, and presenting them to experts. This kind of practical training is impossible to get from textbooks. For me personally, it was a moment of professional growth and confirmation that we are capable of being on a par with the best."

Ihor KYRYCHENKO
student
"We understood that engineering is not just about technologies, it is about bold solutions that change reality. During our work on the cases, we grew as specialists, as a team, and as individuals. Most importantly, we saw meaning in what we were doing. When you are inspired by the name "Inventors," you cannot just 'do the minimum' – you want to surpass yourself."
Metinvest Polytechnic not only provides fundamental knowledge but also creates conditions for its practical application. Different activities, including participation in business cases, work with real business requests, and mentoring by teachers – all of it shapes a new generation of engineers, who are ready to meet the challenges of modern industry.
