Metinvest Polytechnic University is expanding its international partnerships by signing a cooperation agreement with Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A., an Italian company and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of metallurgical equipment. This collaboration will open new opportunities for students and faculty, enabling international internships, exposure to cutting-edge engineering solutions, and participation in the transformation of the metallurgical industry in line with European sustainability standards.
Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A. ranks among the top three global manufacturers of metal processing equipment. Operating worldwide, the company specializes in implementing innovative solutions for steel production, including decarbonization technologies, process automation, and energy efficiency improvements. Partnering with such an industry leader allows Metinvest Polytechnic students to immerse themselves in the latest global metallurgical trends and contribute to the development of new steel production approaches.
Green Industrial Transformation: A Key Focus of Cooperation
The metallurgy sector is currently undergoing a global transition to environmentally friendly technologies, creating new opportunities for engineers and researchers. Commenting on the significance of this partnership, Metinvest Polytechnic Rector Oleksandr POVAZHNYI stated:
“Metinvest Polytechnic is a university of the future, and it is crucial for our students to learn according to the highest global standards. Today, metallurgy is evolving – becoming more technologically advanced, efficient, and environmentally friendly. Our partnership with Danieli allows us to train specialists who will not only work in the industry but also shape its future by implementing technologies that reduce carbon emissions, conserve resources, and enable sustainable steel production. The post-war industrial recovery will require new solutions and approaches, and we must prepare professionals capable of driving this process.”

Students to Gain Access to International Internships
One of the key aspects of this collaboration will be international internships for students at Danieli’s production sites. This provides an opportunity to gain experience working with leading metallurgical companies, learn about modern technologies, and develop skills in an international environment.
Following a competitive selection process, three master’s students from the “Metallurgical Modernization Management” program, along with the Head of the Department of Materials Science and Applied Mechanics, Professor Volodymyr Pashynskyi, have been invited for a month-long internship in Italy at metallurgical plants utilizing Danieli’s equipment.
The rector also emphasized that adopting European technical standards in Ukraine will be a crucial factor in industrial recovery: “This means that our students need to acquire knowledge of green technologies, energy-efficient solutions, and innovative metallurgical processes today. Thanks to our cooperation with Danieli, they will gain precisely this expertise,” noted Oleksandr Povazhnyi.

Promoting Technical Education and New Opportunities for Young Professionals
The partnership between Metinvest Polytechnic and one of the world’s leading metal processing equipment manufacturers will help promote technical specialties among young people. Joint educational initiatives, lectures, and internships will attract more students to engineering, metallurgy, and sustainable development technologies. This is another step in Metinvest Polytechnic’s strategy to integrate science, education, and industry, strengthening the university’s position in training top-tier professionals who will be in demand not only in Ukraine but also in the global labor market.
